Cardiovascular disease is a significant health concern. Understanding patient characteristics, guideline adherence, and medical documentation for cardiovascular disease can improve treatment.
Patients with severe hypertriglyceridemia (sHTG) have an increased atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk and risk of acute pancreatitis. Understanding how specific patient groups are able to be identified, classified, and how their conditions are being documented will improve the process of new medication development and transition into practice. This study is a cross-sectional study performed via a distributed query of the PaTH Clinical Research Network. The goals of the study are to 1. describe patients with high ASCVD risk and sHTG and their potential eligibility for clinical trials and 2. to understand how American Heart Association guidelines are being applied for secondary ASCVD risk prevention and primary ASCVD risk prevention in high-risk patient populations.
Are you interested in working with a team of health researchers to consider what data related to hypertriglyceridemia / ASCVD may mean for clinicians and patients? The research team is looking to identify a patient to contribute as an advisor to a dynamic team of researchers and clinicians. This role would involve ~8 hours of time over 3-6 months in 2022. The partner will participate in discussions of research findings and implications for health decision making. Compensation will be provided.
18 years or older with a diagnosis of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease or severe hypertriglyceridemia.
